A Heathcote wine that is the joint venture of famed Rhone Valley winemakers Michel and Corinne Chapoutier and Ron and Elva Laughton of Jasper Hill. An opaque purple-black in the glass. Perfumed with bramble, sumac, boysenberry, black pepper, salami, liquorice and violets. Full bodied and dry on the palate, with a concentration and power that also shows a fine elegance alongside the weight and muscle. Plump tannin and rounded acidity carry the flavours long, with a lovely light and shade, spice and oak, along the way. A harmony to the balanced, persistent finish. 93pts
