Another wine tasted as a precursor to the upcoming WineFolio ‘Field Trip’ to Heathcote and Yarra Valley after Easter. A single vineyard wine from the valley vineyard in Tarrawarra. A very pale lemon-green colour in the glass, with tight, youthful aromatics of pear, grapefruit, oatmeal, white peach, tarragon and citrus blossom. A busy rush of saline acidity greets the palate, enriched with a subtle note of spicy oak and some phenolic fruit tannin – with complexities that emerge in layers. Firmly concentrated and quite plush as the fleshy stonefruit flavours start to dominate. Lovely flinty minerality leads to a zesty, dry finish of good length. 94pts
