The latest version of the wine that won the Champion Wine of Show Trophy at NZIWS for the 2017 vintage, and led to Matt being named Wine Maker of the Year at the same show in 2021. From Lowburn and Bendigo fruit. A medium-density shining ruby colour in the glass, and with an alluringly exotic scent. Spicy and floral, with lilac, black cherry, star anise, cranberry, plum and hazelnut on the nose. Vibrant with fresh acidity and that succulence of ripe, dark fruit floods the palate. The oak is savoury, nutty, but quite integrated and harmonious. The spice that is woven into the fabric of this wine works in unison with the supple tannin, coming together to add mocha and balsam notes through the palate. Smoothly textural and with a mile-long finish, this is your classic Central-in-a-glass Pinot Noir. 95pts
