From Bendigo in Central Otago. A bright, very pale green-gold in the glass. Perfumed with a mixture of familiar Sauvignon scents – blackcurrant, passionfruit and lime, but adding in tropical notes of guava, lemongrass, jellybean and dried pineapple. There is a lovely tart, briney acidity that sits opposite a creamy texture in the palate. Dry, with a slatey minerality, the palate opens up and goes quite broad, showing good weight and a barrel influence that tones things down as the wine opens up. The finish has a little spice, a surprise liquorice flavour, and is beautifully long. A unique, characterful expression. 93pts
