A rare red variety, from Marlborough legend Hans Herzog, whose patchwork of varietals in his vineyard includes this classic Austrian grape – St Laurent. With a Pinot-like nose, perfumed and easy to like, with hints of blueberry, black cherry, anise, peach, candied fruits and cedar. Dry, rich and deep into the palate, with a core of juicy acidity and supple tannins. Tightly structured but with plenty of plush fruit flavours. A smooth texture leads to a spiced, refined finish of good length. 93pts
