An impenetrable jet ruby-black in the glass, perfumed with bramble, rosehip, plum, cedar, roasted spices, cassis, camp-fire and eucalyptus. A lively, crisp acidity is laid over a dry, lean structure that has plenty of oak and some very firm, strapping tannins. Concentrated, dark and ripe, the fruits lifted with olive, mocha, green herbal notes and a peaty, resinous earthiness. Well balanced – agile and fleet of foot, despite the obvious power and sinew in the spine. The finish has a touch of stony mineral, but is bone dry and reasonably lengthy. I feel there are years, and more, to come from this – drinking well now as a young wine, but definitely one to decant. 93pts
