From Rutherford, Napa Valley in California – one of the classic labels – taking part in the legendary ‘Judgement of Paris’, and making benchmark Napa Cabernet since the ‘60s. This is a blend of sites, including some of their iconic (and expensive) vineyards.
A dense burgundy with flashes of magenta edging in the glass. A nose filled with crunchy dark berries, chamomile, blackcurrant, cedar bark and a flourish of spring flowers. Firm, dry and full bodied. Structure and tightness through the core, but energised with plush, sweet fruit and with a frame of fine, chewy tannin. Bright, vibrant and with a lovely flow through the palate. Smooth, textured and with a harmony that makes it very accessible and more-ish. 92pts.
