A ‘Bordeaux Blanc’ style white wine – a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon from Waiheke Island. Pale lemon/straw colour in the glass, with intriguing aromas of green apple, cut grass, smokiness, passionfruit, lemon peel, grapefruit and crushed oyster shell – familiar but with a twist. Dry, with a juicy acidity and freshness, giving excellent drive and a line straight through the palate. More herbal and bright ‘green’ notes – nettle, sliced fennel, cucumber, underlined with tropical fruits. A distinctive wet stone, almost briny, minerality. Personality plus. A great wine for the table – just waiting for a dish of grilled salmon with asparagus. 94pts.
