Darkest ruby colour, with great depth to the aromas of blackcurrant, damson, Christmas baking spice, rosehip, boysenberry and a little lift of floral violets . Framed with smoky, toasty and warm oak influences – forming a nice doorway but unobtrusive. Bright, young and intense – still a little edgy – tannin and acidity looking to really integrate further as development continues. Dense and dark on the palate, fleshing out that tight backbone. Savoury notes of roast, charred fennel, capsicum and root veg – showing some green herbal edges as well, that overlay the depth of opulent fruit. Good development in the glass – this was decanted and benefits immensely from that treatment. Showing well/better on day two. The finish is complex, lengthy, and with that delicate balance of sweet and savoury at play. 95pts
