Bright, youthful aromas of black cherry, plum, redcurrant and blood orange, spiced with clove, cinnamon and vanilla. There’s also a smoky espresso note that follows through into the ripe, dense palate. The crisp acidity has a brightness which is offset with toasty wood. Tannin is gentle, fine and silken. More spice comes through, and there is a dance between sweet and savoury notes – soy, black olive and liquorice. Great elegance and balance – nothing that juts out or presents any problem to easy enjoyability. 91pts. At the RRP, it offers great buying as an entry to enjoying fine New Zealand Pinot.
