Rapaura Springs ‘Rohe – Blind River’ Sauvignon Blanc 2024

Rapaura Springs ‘Rohe – Blind River’ Sauvignon Blanc 2024

Since the inception of the series, I have had the opportunity to review the ‘Rohe’ series from Rapaura Springs in Marlborough. They now sport a re-designed gorgeous and distinctive gold label. The three Sauvignon Blancs in the range have quite distinct voices if you listen. The terrain, aspect and climate of the sub-regions all deliver uniquely-characterful fruit, that the winery then craft into reflections of these sites.

A very pale lemon-green colour in the glass. Bouquet is key to this distinctively aromatic style, and the highlights from this expression are vibrantly punchy. Grapefruit, blackcurrant, crushed green herbs, lemongrass, white pepper, mandarin and passionfruit. Bright and crunchy, with fruit zest and juice galore. A saline acidity drives the palate – clean, dry and energetic. Through that power-packed initial wave there is a smoother, broader texture as well as a line of stony minerality adding depth and interest. The finish has good length and brings the elements together nicely. 92pts
