A single vineyard wine from the Seddon Vineyard in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley. Great looking lemon-green in the glass, with a nose of white peach, pear, nutmeg, mandarin peel and ginger. In an off-dry style with a moderate acidity that balances nicely with a gentle sweetness. Youthful and vibrant, enriched with a chalky, mineral streak that lifts the plush, succulent fruit from being cloying and flabby. A layer of spiciness is distinctive of the variety if the fruit is well-managed and not overcropped – and this is a classic example with a brioche and honeycomb nuance adding to the weight and harmony. A silken, enveloping texture completes the picture, and the finish is long and generous. 92pts.
