From Central Otago, and a great vintage, this multi award-winner (most recently the Champion Organic Red at NZ Wine of the Year) is made with fruit from Bendigo, Pisa and Gibbston. Charmingly perfumed with lilac florals, cherry and rosehip. Focussed and succulent flavours of plum, Campari and olive are offset with a pulse of warming chai mocha on the palate. Great concentration, with a finesse and tension to the layers that sit in a bath of vibrant acidity. Lower down are fine-boned tannins and a sleek texture envelops toward the persistant, satisfying finish.
Another classic ‘quintessential’ Central Pinot. No wonder these styles are wowing the world… it’s just got everything – harmony, plush fruit, fine acidity, depth. A really elegant but very ‘sensual’ wine.
