One of the ROHE range of Sauvignon Blancs made by Rapaura Springs in 2025 – the Blind River sub-regional expression, has been named one of the world’s best wines at the 2026 Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA). The wine received a score of 97/100 and a coveted “Best in Show” award. This is only given to the Top 50 wines at the show – selected from almost 17,000 entries. Only two New Zealand wines achieved Best in Show status this year.
A translucent, shining silver colour in the glass. Brightly aromatic, with vibrant notes of yuzu, melon, blackcurrant, crushed green herbs, lemongrass, mandarin and pear. Complex but also packs a punch – from the nose through to the back of the palate. Savoury elements of white pepper, crushed shell and nettle mix with those fresh, direct fruits from the bouquet. A smooth, soft texture then swaddles the exit, with a mouth-watering and more-ish finish of good length. 93pts
