A Pinot Noir using hand-picked and destemmed fruit from the company vineyard in Cromwell in Central Otago. A medium-density ruby-purple colour in the glass. The perfume has ripe, bright fruit flavours of strawberry, red cherry, cranberry, blackcurrant and plums, with a touch of cinnamon, rose petal and dried thyme. The palate has a light touch, with fine tannins, buoyant acidity and a velvet texture. The fruit tones deepen – turning plush and richer. An oak element adds both spice and some structure, but this is essentially a soft, rounded and approachable expression led by red berry fruits and is ready for drinking now. Pair with charcuterie or a duck main course. 91pts
