A Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough – winner of a Bronze medal at NZIWS this year. A translucent, silvery green colour in the glass. A bouquet that starts with green herbal notes, then moves to citrus, gooseberry and whitecurrant fruits. Certainly a lighter touch than many of its more bombastic peers, with a bright and breezy acidity leading the way. Lime, grapefruit and green olive notes swell in the palate and there is a fine crushed-shell and flint to the back of the palate too. A touch of sweetness in the finish is distracting, but I like the quieter voice of this expression and could happily go for a second glass. 91pts
