A varietal that is not so easy to find if you’re browsing the shelves these days – this one from the organic label in the Awatere Valley of Marlborough. A pale straw-gold colour in the glass. It walks a tightrope of fragrance and texture. Floral, exotic and peppery with musk, melon and lychee adding richness. The palate has plenty of sweet citrus fruit but feels quite dry as well – the acidity adding energy and direction, carrying you through the wine. A hint of baking spice and enough silky texture to fill out the back of the palate. A lingering finish pulls those complex elements together very well. 91pts
