A single vineyard wine, from the rich clay soils of the Upper Moutere sub-region of Tasman. A light steely green colour in the glass. A zesty perfume stars peach, sliced apple, apricot, melon, almond and lime leaf, but with that delicately peppery and spicy character of the grape woven throughout. The years in the bottle have softened the pin-point and salty acidity that was there on release, but the acidity is still the thing – with energy and drive in the palate. A softer texture offers contrast, with a touch of plushness filling out the back palate. It’s not in the true spanish style, but a dry, juicy finish with good length shows a fine kiwi expression of this varietal. 91pts
