A wine from the Tasman region, in the Upper Moutere hills area – tasted when I visited their busy Cellar Door. A translucent golden colour in the glass, with a touch of green at the rim. The perfume has a smoky incense and toasted nut quality, with plenty of ripe golden fruit to underline it. Lemon, grapefruit, peach, kumquat and quince fruits with white pepper and then a baked cheesecake note too. A balance of richness and freshness, where the acidity is tight and sharp, but there is a breadth and weight that lasts well into a finish of good depth. 93pts
