From the Awatere Valley in Marlborough in a season that ‘delivered near-perfect growing conditions’. A pale steely-green colour in the glass. The aromatic and intense bouquet begins with fresh herbaceous notes, followed by pineapple, grapefruit, melon, blackcurrant, pea pod, mandarin and passionfruit. Acidity is bright but not overt, balanced well by those more tropical flavours you find in the nose. There is some weight mid-palate, and a touch of savoury to contrast with the plush fruit, with fennel, green olive and a stony mineral showing. The finish is clean and refreshing. 90pts
