A Pinot Noir from Martinborough in the Wairarapa – a new wine for me from this producer. A bright ruby red colour in the glass. A complex bouquet takes in some of that signature Martinborough savoury earthiness, but also showcases red fruit notes of morello cherry, plum and redcurrant. There are also hints of orange peel and peach from leftfield. Both delicate and powerful at the same time, it has a lightness of touch that skips across the palate. A whisper of oak, spicy, grippy tannin and pithy acidity act in tandem to give enough structure without closing down the brightness and brio of this youthful Pinot. A fine addition to the range. 94pts
