From an organic producer in Gladstone, Wairarapa. A pale, smoky straw colour in the glass. A rich perfume of nectarine, ginger, pear, apricot and lemon also shows pepper, incense and chamomile. A lovely ripeness to the fruit with just a hint of barrel spice adding depth. Quite textural, with fuzzy peach skin phenolic and fruit tannin. A character-filled expression with a delicate balance and enough acidity to give a strong pulse and flow to the palate. Very well made – one to look out for, and should develop well if cellared. The drier finish has good persistence of flavour. 93pts
