From their estate vineyards on the north-facing slopes of the Havelock Hills in Hawke’s Bay. A pale straw colour in the glass. Classic ‘Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay’ aromas rise with a good swirl. Peach, lemon, grapefruit and tropical fruits. There is a good toasty note that will appeal to many, and warm baking spices add more depth and richness too. That oak is a good frame for the sheen of fruit, and the fresh acidity gives energy and flow through the palate. An oatmeal character then emerges, mixing into the silken texture that cossets the back of the palate, leading to a satisfying finish of good length. 91pts
