A wine from Gisborne that takes from an unusual source – Carmenère grapes. It has a bold blush of dark pink to the colour in the glass. The perfume is fresh and fruity, with raspberry, cherry, cranberry, grapefruit and mandarin. This is a dry style and full of character – just a touch of sap and green herbs come around the edges. More sweet orange and citrus on the palate, with a crisp acidity highlighting the freshness. Towards the finish there’s a bit of baking spice, and good persistence and balance. 90pts
