A wine from one of Marlborough’s best known hillside vineyards. A dark purple colour in the glass. Youthful aromas speak clearly of Pinot varietal – cherry, raspberry, plum fruits, accented with clove, star anise, terracotta and top notes of lilac and violets. On tasting, there is not just concentration, but depth and weight. Acidity and fine tannin strike a fine balance as you progress through a precise and measured palate. There’s a pleasing contrast between fresher elements of sage, marjoram and nettle, and some toasty oak – adding complexity and nuance. A long, linear finish completes the picture. 94pts
