A white wine from Marlborough – the varietal is synonymous with Austria, but has some labels producing it here in New Zealand. A very pale straw yellow colour in the glass. Plenty of ripe fruit in the bouquet, with red apple, peach, pear, vanilla, white pepper, almond and some lemon blossom florals. The palate has a pithy acidity, with that peppery edge cutting through the lush juiciness. Layers of interest include a touch of minerality, a green herb note and a glassy texture. Dry, with a rounded length to the finish. 92pts
