Churton ‘Natural State’ Field Blend 2022

Churton ‘Natural State’ Field Blend 2022

Grown on the Churton biodynamic and organic vineyard above the Waihopai Valley, Marlborough. Natural State Field Blend is a composition of their three white varieties – Viognier, Petit Manseng and Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes are all harvested on the same day and co-fermented; then bottled, unfined, unfiltered with zero sulphur additions. A pale golden colour in the glass. Voluptuous aromatics show peach, ginger, apricot, greengage, blackcurrant, fennel and honeysuckle. There is a crispness as you go into the palate, with a wave of keen acidity, but also a rich ripeness to the fruit. The contrast doesn’t stop there, with prickly fruit tannin meeting a touch of residual sugar, and a crushed shell minerality over a creamy texture, adding more layers. It has character, complexity and a dry, zesty finish with good length. 93pts
