A wine from Manutuke in the Gisborne region – the Pinot Gris vines beside the Wright’s vineyard Cellar door. The attractive label feature a bright painting of Young Nicks Head by Noah Wright. A pale golden colour in the glass. A little funk and smoke on the nose, mixed with aromas of pear, honey, apple, citrus, ginger and baking spice. Passed that initial complexity to the perfume, there is a simplicity to the off-dry palate. Enough acid tension to keep things moving. Clean, and fresh, with a dash of herbal astringency and fresh fennel into a softer finish. 90pts
