A Pinot Noir from their ‘icon range’ of wines – made from Te Muna Road vineyard fruit, grown on the outskirts of Martinborough, Wairarapa. A dense, bold purple colour in the glass. Equally bold aromas of plum, cherry, blood orange, bramble, forest floor, cloves, thyme and a lift of violet florals on the nose. Ten years in, this bottle is firmly in its peak drinking window. Fresh acidity contrasts well with the dry and savoury elements, including spicy oak and grippy tannin. A big wine with weight and presence that speaks of time and place. The finish shows great persistence, finishing dry and robust. 94pts
