A wine from Central Otago from the 4 hectare vineyard block on Penkridge Farm. A light coral pink colour in the glass, with bright and vibrant aromas of cherry, cranberry, redcurrant and red liquorice. A note of red hibiscus and jasmine florals too. A well-balanced entry to the palate, where the piquant acidity is offset by that juicy fruit and a touch of residual sweetness. The tension there is also showing in the presence of a silky texture, against a nibble of lacy tannin – there is plenty of character and interest throughout this wine. Some spice at the end, where the finish is long and precise. 92pts
