A white wine from Waiheke Island, and the superb 2019 vintage. A pale green-gold in the glass. The bouquet shows lemon, peach, grapefruit, pear, vanilla, cashew nut and buttered toast. Bold and concentrated, but not as rich as the nose suggests. There is a lightness and balance that is influenced by the zip of acidity, with tension and energy tightly coiled through the palate. The smoky oak adds depth and structure, with the lush fruit soaking it up. Rounded and generously textural, it is an expression that leans on ‘the old school’ style, but with an elegance and purity to carry it off. 95pts
