A Pinot Noir from a good-sized, family-run estate in Burgundy with vineyards in several regions. A translucent, bright but pale ruby-purple colour in the glass. Good concentration and lift to the perfume of bramble, damson, raspberry, dark chocolate, cherry and rose petal. Youthful and primary, there is a rustic edge to the palate – with a savoury earthiness, that will benefit from time in the bottle to smooth out. Tannin is supple, with some grip, and the oak is well-judged – just a background seasoning. It builds nicely, with volume and richness coming through – and will also develop further I think after cellaring. 92pts
