A wine from the Highgrange vineyard in the Pisa sub-region of Central Otago. A pale lemon-green colour in the glass. Aromas of red apple, lemon, grapefruit and melon, highlighted with a light flinty minerality. The minerality is immediate on the palate too, with a chalky wet stone quality. Savoury notes of preserved lemon, marmite, crushed herbs and sea shell balance the plush fruits. There is a hint of toasty oak in the background, plus a little fruit tannin to add complexity. Acidity gives some impressive drive through to a well-balanced, tangy finish. 91pts
