A return to taste a wine I first discovered in 2023. It is a sparkling wine made in the Méthode Traditionnelle from Pinot Noir grown in the Awatere Valley, Marlborough. The colour of rose gold in the glass, with a rich mousse of fine bubbles. Scented with raspberry, cherry, almond, tarragon, grapefruit pith and a yeasty, breadcrumb note. Quite savoury and dry into the palate, the juice at the sides, bleeding through as the initial energetic rush subsides. The acidity is keen, with a saline, wet-stone minerality and gives good length to the palate. A gentle spice to the finish, with decent length. 92pts
