Another wine from the Naudé Estate in the Western Cape of South Africa – one of Martin Cahnbley’s excellent range of South African wines that he imports and is available at both his retail store Cahn’s in Auckland’s O’Connell street, and online at www.planetwine.co.nz. I had reviewed the white blend in March – here: www.winefolio.co.nz/?p=10517
A translucent pale lemon-green in the glass. An elegant aroma with green apple, lime, pepper, almond, pineapple and grapefruit. Dry, with a crisp acidity that has a briney, preserved lemon, green olive and salinity to it. Despite being ten years in the bottle (under cork) this is still tight as a drum. A slightly waxy texture comes around those tart, juicy flavours mid-palate, offering more complexity, and settling into a gentler finish with reasonable length. 93pts

Absolutely loved reading your article on the State Cinemas Nelson building. Your advocacy for embracing bold colours in our urban landscapes truly resonates. In our experience as house painters in Auckland, we’ve witnessed firsthand how a thoughtful splash of colour can transform not just a building, but the entire mood of a street.
We’ve collaborated with numerous clients who’ve chosen to step away from the conventional neutral palettes, opting instead for hues that reflect their personality and breathe new life into their homes. It’s always inspiring to see how these choices can invigorate a space and uplift the community around it.
Kudos to the team behind the State Cinemas Nelson for their vision and courage. Here’s to more vibrant and expressive architecture that brings joy to our daily lives!
