Gibbston Valley ’95’ China Terrace Chardonnay 2014

Gibbston Valley ’95’ China Terrace Chardonnay 2014

A wine from Bendigo. There is also a ‘regular’ China Terrace Chardonnay produced from the vineyard, but this is an expression using just a single clone – Clone 95 – selection from a few specific rows on the west-facing edge. A pale straw-green colour in the glass. The perfume begins quite subtle, but builds quickly – with lemon, peach, pineapple, pear, chestnut, green herbs, baking spice and toasted breadcrumbs. The medium-bodied palate has a keen zing of acidity (even after ten years). Quite corseted and tight, with an interplay of energy and depth. Slightly creamy, viscose, oatmeal texture. That linearity continues into a long finish. 94pts
