A wine from the Awatere Valley vineyard. The colour is clear, pale and with a green tinge to the translucent gold in the glass. A terrific blast of perfume that could only be Marlborough Sauvignon, with a flood of green notes taking in grapefruit, apple, gooseberry, lemongrass, chopped herbs, cucumber and blackcurrant. The palate launches dry, pithy and precocious, bounding along with a youthful energy that packs a punch. Mid-palate develops into pineapple, guava and greengage, but lacks the drive of the opening. A stony minerality at the finish proves a persistent element, and the ending is long and balanced. 92pts
