A Syrah from the Gimblett Gravels sub-region of Hawke’s Bay, in a great vintage. Winner of a Gold medal at the 2024 NZIWS. A dark crimson-ruby colour in the glass. A bouquet of cranberry, raspberry, bramble, peppercorn and dried herbs. Quite tight, firm and dry, with a structure coming from the long, fine tannins and the toasted oak influence. The mid-palate has a slippery texture and good drive from a juicy acidity. Has a youthful energy and will take time to be at its peak – hold for a few years yet. The finish is long and spicy. 93pts
