A wine originating from the Lowburn sub-region of Central Otago. A deep purple ink colour in the glass. Vibrantly aromatic, showing regional-identifying touches of black cherry, thyme and peppercorn to the perfume, alongside some savoury elements like tapenade, bracken and autumn leaves. Fruit is plush and ripe, framed with smoky oak and brightened with a refreshing acidity. The tannin juts out a little so far – the only part that doesn’t feel integrated yet – I’d give this weighty wine some time to settle and meld yet. Texture is already soft and embracing. This big wine has big potential, but look to cellar this for another 4-5 years before opening. 93pts
