Selection Massale Orange 2023

A wine from Marlborough, made with organic Grüner Veltliner fruit that spent 6 weeks on skins. A vivid, bright copper-amber colour. Some of the Grüner character shines on the nose, with a very peppery element rising amongst the fruit flavours. The perfume has pink grapefruit, rhubarb, orange peel, nectarine and baking spice, and just a hint of green – I thought nettle, gum and bay leaf. A bite of acidity on the palate accents the quite generous fruit ripeness. Full malolactic fermentation sees the texture sidle in and swaddle the palate in a creamy embrace – a balance to the sour-lolly keenness of the entry. 90pts
