A white wine from Waiheke island, and quite a rare variety to find in New Zealand. A green-gold colour in the glass. a powerful nose, with aromas of peach, orange marmalade, apricot, fruit peel, almond brittle and a heady pulse of jasmine florals. There is plenty of zesty acidity in the palate which has good weight. White pepper and baking spice add interest as the fruit notes deepen and become quite exotic – guava, ginger and pineapple. A nip of fuzzy fruit tannin contrasts well with a creamy, textural mouthfeel. The finish is a little hot, but is still juicy and persistent. 92pts
