A Central Otago Chardonnay – from Te Kano’s Northburn & Bannockburn vineyards. A very pale straw colour in the glass. Boldly aromatic, with peach, apple, cashew, citrus, wood smoke, baking spice and vanilla on the nose. Generous and fleshy on the palate, where the oak becomes more apparent – the spice and toast notes growing. Brisk acidity lends an energy and intensity to the mid-palate. Warmer, textured flavours of weetbix, biscuit and coconut come through at the end, with a finish of moderate length. 89pts
