A Hawke’s Bay wine, made from 65% Merlot along with other red varieties. A copper-tinged rose petal pink in the glass. A little of that strawberries and cream expression is there on the nose, but pulled back by some crisper grapefruit and cranberry flavours. Dry enough that you’d call it that; but look out for plenty of glossy ripeness that adds generosity to the palate. Bright, zesty acidity takes the lead, giving the palate energy and zip. Some cardamom and nutmeg flavours give complexity, and warmth, to the vibrant finish. A good all-rounder that will be a great addition to the late summer lunch table. 90pts
