A wine from the Marananga sub-region of the Barossa, – the biodynamic 100-year-old Schlieb’s Garden vineyard – in South Australia. A translucent ruby-garnet colour in the glass – light and bright. The perfume is airy and intriguing – cherry, raspberry, rose petal and white pepper. The palate seems initially equally light, but has a hidden structure hiding in the sidelines. The tannin in particular has grip as well as polish. The brisk acidity skips the fruit flavours like a stone across your tongue, with savoury notes emerging as it goes. Terracotta, proscuitto, sumac and strawberry sherbert. Quite complex and yet possessing a quiet voice that needs to be attended to and involve your senses. The finish is lengthy, dry and ethereal. 95pts
