From a couple of blocks in the Seaview Vineyard in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley. A dark ruby-burgundy in the glass. Good varietally-specific aromas of black cherry, bramble and raspberry overlaid with a floral perfume of lilac and orchid. Bold, with smoky oak apparent and upfront – quite firm and a chew of chalky tannin rasps across the palate. Generous and textured, but kept moving with a bright acidity, the line through the palate is well-defined and focussed. The finish is spicy, balanced and with good length. 92pts
