A white wine from the Gladstone sub-region of Wairarapa. The potential and charisma of this varietal in the Wairarapa shows again and again – with fine examples from Palliser, B-wine, Schubert, Craggy Range all tasted this year. A characteristic pale green/gold in the glass. What is not so typical are the aromas – with lemon peel, whitecurrant, lime and red apple fruit flavours, but the green and passionfruit notes toned right down. A razor-sharp acidity pierces and gives terrific line through the palate. So zesty and saline, with an energy and complexity – a maypole of intertwining scents and flavours. A detailed, lengthy finish. Very fine. 94pts
