Bright but vibrant pale yellow, with sweet baked apple and citrus floral aromas. A sweet shop mixed bag of candy apple, pear drops and lemon sherbert flavours on the palate, with more savoury flickers of tarragon and charred pineapple. A refreshing bite of acidity drives it through the sweet layers and on to a silken, almost waxy texture; and a stoney salinity towards the finish. It dries off at the end, with more citrus notes to complete, and lovely lingering ending of honeyed plushness. It has a bit of everything – I recently noted the beauty of a different 2002 Central Pinot Gris – and this also feels like it’s made to last!
