An Aussie Chardonnay from one of the big names in the Clare Valley, South Australia. A pale green colour in the glass. The complex perfume shows toasty oaky, butterscotch, apple pie, lemon peel, and grapefruit, The palate starts with a wave of spice and is quite dry and tight – like, the nose, there is plenty to take in. A prickle of fruit tannin and minerality sweeps across the palate, followed by savoury notes of green olive and tarragon. Oak is less obvious than the aroma suggested, and the wine is more settled and seamless as it gets air. Texturally quite smooth, with an element of beurre blanc and lemon curd to the drying finish. A wine packed with personality. 93pts
