Named as a tribute to their late founder Greg White, this Sauvignon Blanc comes from a single vineyard in Marlborough’s Awatere Valley. A pale lemon-green in the glass, with a perfume of green apple, passionfruit, tomato leaf, lemongrass, blackcurrant and lime zest. Dry, very bright and succulent into the palate, with a medium-bodied structure and firmness. Acidity is brisk, highlighting the ripe fruit. A flinty minerality spreads across the palate, chiseled and chalky, but there’s also a generous texture that saves the wine from being too intense, and brings it back to the right side of approachability. The finish is harmonious, with the myriad elements merging well. 91pts
