Rapaura Springs ‘Rohe – Blind River’ Sauvignon Blanc 2023

Rapaura Springs ‘Rohe - Blind River’ Sauvignon Blanc 2023

This is the third year that I have had the opportunity to review the ‘Rohe’ series from Rapaura Springs in Marlborough. These three Sauvignon Blancs have quite distinct voices that define them – coming from the Blind River, Dillons Point and Rapaura sub-regions. Here the terrain, aspect and climate all deliver uniquely-characterful fruit, that the winery then craft into reflections of these sites.

A translucent light green colour in the glass. Brightly perfumed with apple, blackcurrant, grilled grapefruit, satsuma, lime, thai basil and passionfruit. An intense crunch of ripe fruit into the palate, brimming with juice. Concentrated and powerful with a zesty, briney acidity. Possessed of both a mineral-packed quartziness and yet a plush and satin texture as well – ying and yang. Great energy and focus, bounding into a long finish. 93pts
